Establishment of sustainable circumpolar networks for education, community outreach and knowledge translation is critical for maximising post-IPY public benefit. Canada and Russia face significant geographic challenges for establishing such networks. This presentation explores a potential Canadian solution. The proposed network must be based on inclusive Canadian circumpolar dialogue. Combined core infrastructure and expertise of an established and successful not-for-profit regional science centre and a research intensive university may be essential to enable northern capacity-building for ICT and content development. The network would provide important sustainable Canadian education and outreach links in relation to IPY-related legacies such as those of SAON, the Arctic Portal and international networks such as UArctic.
