Importance Of Interactive Expeditions In School Outreach
- Educators, Teachers
As a Plymouth explorer Antony Jinman uses his experiences to talk with schools about both the summer and winter arctic seasons on Baffin Island and Greenland. Over the past 3 years he has completed 9 expeditions and complied a large stock of photographic and film evidence of how the arctic landscape has been changing in recent years. I have also visited the same Inuit communities over this period, developing links and learning first hand about Inuit culture and the issues and fears that they face. The primary purpose of this is to help develop an online global resource to bring together interactive expeditions from around the world, so that students can learn in real time about the world around them. Text books within schools are only as current as the day they are printed, the world is a quickly changing place but one where explorers and researchers can now report on instantly.
