Arctic Shadows: The Arctic Journeys of R.M. Anderson

This documentary film captures the early 19th century Arctic journeys and research of Dr. R. M. Anderson, former chief biologist with the National Museum of Canada and a world-renowned expert on mammals of the North. Long overshadowed by his dramatic colleague Vilhajalmur Stefansson, Dr. Anderson's story is an exciting glimpse into the history of science and exploration in the Arctic. The film, Arctic Shadows, includes both contemporary and historic film footage of Arctic people, wildlife and landscapes. Interviews were undertaken with Dr. Anderson's family, and colleagues. In addition, excerpts from Dr. Anderson's diary and journal entries personalize the film.
