The ArcticNet Student Association (ASA) represents several hundred graduate students involved in the ArcticNet Network of Centres of Excellence. These graduate students are mostly located across Canada, with some students abroad. The main goals of the ASA are to promote learning, leadership, research and networking opportunities between students, academics, governmental partners, and northerners. In recent years, this mission has expanded to include education and outreach. The ASA contributed to a number of education and outreach events through our involvement with various International Polar Year initiatives. We participation with the Schools on Board program and with the Arctic Climate Change Youth Forums. We organized a Canada-wide outreach event during the 2010 IPY Polar Week. The ASA as an important organization for education and outreach in Canada and throughout the world.
