The CSA was established by a group of graduate students from several disciplines who wanted to share interests and information about northern & antarctic research. The CSA seeks to provide various avenues to discuss issues such as logistical problems and support, funding challenges, licensing issues, and involving community participants in northern projects. The CSA provides opportunities for students to interact on academic as well as social levels, encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiences that can lead to cooperation and collaborative research. We recognize that doing northern research can be an isolating experience. It is our hope to provide a forum for students to network with colleagues and share ideas and experiences at CSA meetings and other activities. Our long-term objective is to have the CSA link with international networks, providing more opportunities for students to participate in global efforts and programs in circumpolar research.
