AGU 2024 social for polar early career scientists

Are you an early career polar researcher going to the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting? Join other Arctic, Antarctic and high alpine researchers at a social co-hosted by PSECCOPolarImpact and the United States Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (USAPECS) on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 6 - 7pm ET. The event will feature a short introduction to each of these organizations and how you can get involved with them or be supported by them, and will offer a fun opportunity to network with other polar researchers at AGU!

Antarctica Day is celebrated annually on 1 December, honoring of the signing of the Antarctic Treaty in 1959. 9th Annual International Polar Film Festival

In conjunction with APECS International Polar Week, the US Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (USAPECS) is hosting the ninth annual international Polar Film Festival in March 2025! Please note that USAPECS is permanently moving the Polar Film Festival to March starting in 2025. For five days, the Polar Film Festival will showcase short videos on topics related to the polar regions to the public and broader Polar research community. Films will be shared on our website each day during APECS International March Polar Week and we will host an online panel discussion with filmmakers about their works.

APECS Portugal XV Workshop 2024

In the past 24th of October, the XV APCES Portugal Workshop was held at historical village of Almeida, as part of the organisation of University of Beira Interior, under the theme "The Polar Express to Success: Enhancing ECR´s Writing Skills", together with the Portuguese Polar Conference on the 25th of October.

Workshop on how to Peer Review at the upcoming ArcticNet's AC2024

The Association of Polar Early-Career Scientist Canada (APECS Canada) and Arctic Science will be co-hosting a workshop on how to Peer review. This workshop, part of the Early-Career Scientist (ECS) Reviewer Program, will be held on December 9th, 2024, from 14:00 to 15:00 EST in room 215 at the upcoming ArcticNet's Arctic Change 2024 conference in Ottawa, Canada.

Apply now to attend the Polar Early Career World Summit (PECWS) to be hosted in Boulder, Colorado, USA from 22-24 March 2025! The PECWS, organized by the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the Polar Early Career Community Office (PSECCO), aims to bring together early career researchers, professionals, Indigenous scholars and knowledge holders connected to the Arctic, Antarctic, and the wider cryosphere from across the world.

APECS at the SCAR Open Science Conference 2024

Between the 17th and the 25th of August the SCAR Open Science Conference took place in Pucón, Chile. More than 1100 participants and specialists from the diverse field of studies in the Antarctic and the Southern Ocean gathered and made this the largest SCAR event so far.

APECS was represented at the event through the 2023-2024 President José Queirós and by many APECS members and National Committees that participated and organized several APECS events throughout the entire week.
