The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) is looking for a new team member in the International Directorate, which is based at the UiT University Library in Tromsø, Norway. APECS is an international and interdisciplinary organization for early career individuals with interests in polar and alpine regions and the wider cryosphere, and is jointly hosted by UiT, the Norwegian Polar Institute and the Fram Centre. We facilitate career development, provide support through training and resources, and serve as a platform that empowers and advocates for the polar early career community. We are looking for someone that can work part-time on an hourly basis for at least six months (potentially one year), starting in mid to late January 2026. The working hours are flexible, so this job can fit alongside other commitments. It is a great step for those on a polar career path!

The main tasks:
- Maintaining our website, including posting news items, creating and editing webpages, and updating the job board
- Helping manage the general APECS email and responding to member inquiries
- Contributing to the administration of member activities, for example through the management of email groups, files, and Zoom bookings
- Participating in various online meetings with other APECS staff and leadership
- Contributing ideas for partnerships, initiatives, and events
We are looking for people who have:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher (or are currently studying)
- A passion for and/or academic focus on the polar regions
- Strong English language skills
- Skills and interest in public communication (e.g. email campaigns, social media, website content)
- Familiarity with Google products including Gmail and Google Drive, which are used heavily in our organization
- A collaborative mindset and team-player attitude
- The ability to work 10-20 hours per week, with flexible distribution of these hours and the possibility to work both physically at UiT (campus Tromsø/Breivika) as well as remotely
- A Norwegian ID number; we can only consider individuals that are based in Norway
