In this session, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the Polar Science Early Career Community Office (PSECCO) will give an overview of the Fifth International Polar Year (IPY-5), focusing on recommendations from the polar early career community for this IPY and other long-term research planning efforts. The recommendations that will be presented have been distilled from the input of approximately 240 early career professionals during the Polar Early Career World Summit and associated engagement opportunities. PSECCO and APECS will also provide short introductions of their organizations and how early career researchers can get involved in them.
