Association of Polar Early Career Scientists

The Open GNSS Research Equipment (OGRE) team, in collaboration with the Dartmouth College Changing Polar Regions Cluster, is offering up to 50 free OGRE instruments to support cryosphere research and education worldwide.

ogreinstrument

OGREs are low-power, open-source GNSS instruments designed for polar and mountain environments. They reduce deployment costs while enabling high-quality measurements of ice motion, snow accumulation, crevasse formation, and other dynamic processes.

Researchers and educators can apply for 1–10 OGRE units to use in projects on glaciers, ice sheets, permafrost, sea or lake ice, or in field-based training programs. Applicants provide their own mounting and power systems, while the OGRE team offers technical support.

Proposals will be evaluated on scientific or educational merit (40%), feasibility (30%), and geographic or thematic diversity (30%).

This initiative aims to expand access to open-source tools and advance global cryosphere science and education.

👉 Submit your proposal now to integrate OGRE instruments into your next field or teaching project!
